Paul Bissonnette has worked his way into becoming something akin to the Charles Barkley of hockey media.
Bissonnette’s charisma and devil may care approach to subjects throughout hockey have helped him parlay a career as a fourth line forward and enforcer into success in a variety of media platforms.
His podcast with fellow NHL alum Ryan Whitney, Spittin’ Chiclets, is the most popular hockey podcast going and last year he earned a slot on the analyst desk with Wayne Gretzky on the NHL on TNT.
Before that media career took off, however, Biz spent three years toiling in the minors in Wheeling and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton before earning his NHL debut on October 4th, 2008 in Stockholm, Sweden.
Bissonnette skated only 7 shifts and played just 4:13 in the 4-3 win, but they don’t ask how…they ask how many? That game against Ottawa was the first of 15 NHL games he would play that season, and he’d go on to earn 187 more in Phoenix.
Paul Bissonnette’s White Set 1 game worn jersey has moderate wear; more than you’d expect for a one gamer, but due to the lack of any photos of Biz from the contest (and how grainy the footage is) I have been unable to match it.
The sweater features the NHL Premiere Stockholm patch on the right breast, a few scuffs in the crest, and some unidentified staining in the lower right portion of the front of the jersey.
The right sleeve has a few faint stick/puck marks and loose threading in the sleeve numbers. The left sleeve has a few smaller loose threads and a large stick mark/dark board burn just above the #67 sleeve numbers on that side.
There are a few light stains on the back and some loose threads in the nameplate.
There is a Cutting Edge Sports/Pittsburgh Penguins set tag in the hem that identifies the jersey as part of the “STOCKHOLM Oct. 4-5, 2008” set, and it is signed by equipment manager Dana Heinze on the fight strap.
