Mark Kastelic Ottawa Senators Game Worn Jersey

Mark Kastelic 2021-2022 Ottawa Senators White Set 2

October 13, 2022

Mark Kastelic wore this White Set 2 game worn jersey during his first taste of NHL action with the Ottawa Senators.

The young center played in 16 games in 2021-2022, scoring 2 goals and 2 assists.

Kastelic leveraged his call-up and partial season in the show into a spot on the Senators opening night roster for the 2022-2023 season.

Before finding his way into the Senators organization, Mark Kastelic played minor hockey in Arizona for the Jr. Coyotes. After being a standout in bantam, Kastelic was selected in the 2nd round of the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft by the Calgary Hitmen.

The Arizona native played five seasons in Calgary, serving as captain and finding himself near the top of the club record books in goals, points, and games played.

After being passed on in two consecutive drafts, Ottawa selected him in the 5th round, 125th overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He spent another season and a half with the Belleville Senators before getting the call-up to the NHL and making his debut on January 29th, 2022.

The Ottawa Senators wore their White Set 2 jerseys from February 13th, 2022 to April 29th, 2022.

Mark Kastelic only played in 4 away games in that time frame with Ottawa as most of his games were at home. However, this sweater is easily photomatched to February 1st, 2022 (via the first photo), which was Kastelic’s first road game in the NHL.

The right shoulder marks, the left collarbone mark, and the stick or scuff marks on the Senators crest helmet all appear in photos in that February 1st matchup.

All told, Mark played in 5 games in this game worn jersey, scoring 0 goals and 1 assist (his second NHL point).

It has very solid wear for so few games, with the right sleeve being mutilated by today’s standards with holes, burns, and stick/puck marks. The right sleeve is basically a mass of patch repairs below the elbow. The upper part of the right sleeve has some loose threading in the numbers and several small stick marks near the shoulder that show up in a bunch of photos.

The front of the jersey has stick and/or rub marks in the head and helmet of the crest. The right collarbone has a dark board burn below the “S” sleeve patch, and the left collarbone also has a stick/puck mark. On the right breast is the “EM” patch, worn in memory of Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk who passed during the 2021-2022 season.

On the back of the sweater is some loose threading in the nameplate and numbers, a small stickmark beneath the #7, and a few large stick marks that are on the right side of the shirt above the hem.

This game worn jersey has an Ottawa Senators tag sewn to the fight strap from equipment manager John Forget.
