Todd Burgess spent one season with Minnesota State after a four year NCAA career at RPI.
He scored 14 points (5g, 9a) in 25 games as he helped the Mavericks reach the 2021 NCAA Frozen Four.
I own this seemingly random jersey because Todd Burgess is an Arizona hockey product. He was born here in Phoenix and played his youth hockey here through Midget with the Jr. Coyotes before heading to the NAHL with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.
He was also a 4th round draft pick of the Ottawa Senators in 2016 which puts him in some rare air for Arizona hockey products, though he does yet remain unsigned.
It would have been neat to see him playing in Belleville with Mark Kastelic next season, considering they are both from AZ and the Jr. Coyotes program, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Burgess wore this sweater for Minnesota State in their run up to the 2021 Frozen Four.
Though this sweater is patched, it was not worn in the Frozen Four as the team was eliminated in the semifinal wearing their white jerseys by St. Cloud State.
The jersey has some decent wear throughout.
The right sleeve has several visible burn areas and pilling and a few small marks, as well as at least three unrepaired burn holes. The right sleeve #2 has a faint mark and several loose threads. The right breast features the WCHA patch, and the Minnesota State crest is done in jersey style twill.
The left breast features the aforementioned Frozen Four patch. The left sleeve has a few marks and burns as well, but not nearly as many as the right. There is one unrepaired burn hole near the elbow.
The back of the jersey is fairly clean and is signed on the numbers by Burgess.
Todd Burgess signed with the Manitoba Moose in the offseason and has spent time with them and also in the ECHL with the Newfoundland Growlers.
With more and more kids from Arizona making it into the upper reaches of hockey, the entire desert hockey movement continues to grow.
