Tim Lovell spent three seasons with the Arizona State Sun Devils hockey program from 2021-2022 to 2023-2024.
Lovell joined the program from Boston College while ASU was still playing at Oceanside Ice Arena. He would go on to become one of the most beloved players in program history as he quarterbacked the offense in Mullett Arena.
The Massachusetts native finished his career in Tempe with the sixth most points in school history (77) and with the second most assists in school history (65).
Tim also set the school record for the most points scored by a defenseman in a season with his 37th points scored in his final game with the Sun Devils, breaking the record of 36 points set by Brinson Pasichnuk.
Arizona State introduced their black alternate jerseys in December of 2018. At the time the black jerseys were the only alternate the school wore, however that would quickly change in the ensuing months and years as ASU introduced multiple alternate jerseys.
The school wore these jerseys in three games in 2021-2022 before shelving them prior to the 2022-2023 season. They brought the jerseys back out of storage in 2023-2024 and wore them in seven games before retiring them permanently.
Tim Lovell wore this jersey in all three games in 2021-2022 and all seven games in 2023-2024, scoring 1 goal and 4 assists in the 10 total games.
Lovell’s jersey has fairly light wear with some board burns found in each sleeve and loose threads in the sleeve numbers.
One other note on the black alternates is that when they were brought back out of storage to be worn in 2023-2024, players who had been part of the roster in 2021-2022 wore the same jersey they had worn previously in 2021-2022. All players who had joined the ASU roster in 2022-2023 or later were issued new black set jerseys.
All of the newly issued black sets had set tags in the back hem, just as all other new jersey styles had them beginning with the all maroon, the all white, and the PT42 jerseys that were first introduced in 2021-2022.
