For a franchise known for it’s development of stud defensemen, Kimmo Timonen was the original in Nashville.
From skating to point production and everything in between, Kimmo set the bar high for the likes of Shea Weber and Roman Josi, among others. Were it not for a haphazard fire sale, it’s arguable that Timonen would be the franchise leader in both assists and total points over “original Predator” David Legwand.
He captained the team for just one season prior to his trade to Philadelphia, making his Preds era captains jerseys a very rare find in the game worn community.
This particular jersey is the rarest of that bunch. Nashville wore just one regular set of their mustard third jerseys, as well as another set of one-gamers for the fans on Shirt Off Their Backs night on 2/14/2007. The jersey here is from the set worn throughout the season.
Timonen wore this beauty in 13 different games and tallied a point or better in 10 of those contests. In fact, he was so hot while wearing this jersey he averaged more than a point per game (6 goals and 10 assists).
His lone year as captain was also his best season offensively in the NHL.
The Finnish legend scored 13 goals and added 42 assists for 55 total points. The goals tied his career high, and the assist and point totals were the highest tallies he’d ever reach in his career.
