Johnny Walker owns the record books of the Arizona State Sun Devils hockey program.
First in goals (70), first in points (123), fourth in assists (53), fifth in games played (139), and even fifth in penalty minutes (140). Walker also held the record for most goals scored in a season at 23 until Ryan Kirwan scored 26 for the Sun Devils in 2024-2025.
Walker returned to Arizona State for his graduate season and scored 6 goals and 7 assists in 23 games.
Arizona State introduced their new maroon away jerseys prior to the 2021-2022 season. The jerseys, along with a new white home jersey, were the beginning of the third generation of sweaters worn by the Sun Devils since their inaugural season as a Division I program.
ASU wore their maroon jerseys in 10 games in 2021-2022.
Walker wore this jersey in 5 of those 10 games and scored 2 goals and 2 assists in the sweater.
Johnny Walker’s jersey has one unique aspect that stands out immediately. You can clearly see the state outline on the left breast where the captain’s “C” was at the start of the 2021-2022 season. That captaincy was later removed from Walker and Jacob Wilson and given to Colin Theisen.
His jersey shows some other wear with a couple of repairs, board burns, and some loose threads.
