Ethan Szmagaj patrolled the blueline for four years at Arizona State from 2021-2022 through 2024-2025.
Szmagaj’s freshman season was the “Last Ride at Oceanside” as the program played its final season at the Oceanside Ice Arena community rink. He was part of the group that ushered in Mullett Arena during his sophomore season and concluded his college career in 2024-2025 as the captain of the program with the Sun Devils joining the powerhouse NCHC conference.
The defender scored 1 goal and 4 assists in 29 games in 2024-2025. Szmagaj played in 130 career games in his four seasons in Tempe, scoring 6 goals and 22 assists.
Arizona State made the switch from adidas to CCM jerseys in 2024-2025 due to adidas withdrawing from the sport of hockey at all levels. They introduced their new CCM home white and maroon away jerseys in August 2024 with a reveal video that emphasized the difference between ASU and it’s more traditional NCHC counterparts.
The Sun Devils wore their white jerseys in 16 games in 2024-2025.
Ethan Szmagaj wore his white captain’s sweater in 13 of the 16 games that the set was worn in, scoring 1 goal and 1 assist and finishing dead even in +/-.
This sweater has light visible wear consisting of a couple of small board burns, stick/puck marks, and some scuffing on the numbers.
These jerseys were the first to feature the NCHC conference patch on the right breast, and it also has the familiar captain’s “C” inside the Arizona state border outline. The customization was done by EPS.
A set tag can be found inside all of these white CCM jerseys identifying them as an “Arizona State Authentic Game Jersey”.
