Ty Murchison was named the NCHC Defensive Defenseman of the Year in his senior year at Arizona State.
Murch played in 145 games for the maroon and gold across four seasons, scoring 9 goals and 14 assists. The most impressive stat for Murchison, however, is that he finished his career a +17 while being a guy relied upon as a shutdown defenseman.
While his role wasn’t flashy, the California native made all the difference for Greg Powers’ teams in his four seasons in Tempe. Murchison was one of my favorite players to watch throughout his time with the Sun Devils, and he was one of just three ASU players left on the roster (alongside Ethan Szmagaj and Benji Eckerle) who had played at Oceanside Ice Arena prior to the opening of Mullett Arena.
The defender finished his senior year with 0 goals and 4 assists in 37 games. He was a +6 on the season.
Murchison was a 5th round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2021. He signed a 2-year entry-level contract with the Flyers shortly after the conclusion of Arizona State’s 2024-2025 season.
Arizona State made the switch from adidas to CCM jerseys in 2024-2025 due to adidas withdrawing from the sport of hockey at all levels. They introduced their new CCM home white and maroon away jerseys in August 2024 with a reveal video that emphasized the difference between ASU and it’s more traditional NCHC counterparts.
The Sun Devils wore their maroon jerseys in 16 games in 2024-2025.
Ty Murchison wore this jersey in all 16 of those games, posting 0 goals and 3 assists and a +9 rating while wearing the sweater.
Murchison’s jersey shows excellent wear with board burns, unrepaired holes, repairs, loose threads, scuffs in the numbers, and a stick mark or two.
These jerseys featured the NCHC patch on the right front breast. Murch’s jersey also has the alternate captain’s patch on the left breast.
The customization was done by EPS.
A set tag can be found inside all of these white CCM jerseys identifying them as an “Arizona State Authentic Game Jersey”.
