Joey Daccord wore this jersey for the Arizona State Sun Devils during the 2018-2019 season in Tempe.
Daccord helped lead ASU to their first NCAA tournament appearance against Quinnipiac in 2018-2019 before becoming the first Sun Devil hockey alumni to sign an NHL entry-level contract and make his NHL debut with the Ottawa Senators.
The Massachusetts native has worked his way from a seventh-round draft pick to starter in the NHL with the Seattle Kraken, recently signing a five-year, 25-million-dollar contract.
Joey Daccord was also honored by Arizona State as the first player to have his number retired for the hockey program.
The Sun Devils put Daccord’s #35 in the rafters during the school’s home opener on October 3rd, 2025 against Penn State.
Arizona State introduced a completely new set of sweaters for the 2018-2019 season. This refresh saw the team abandon black as their road jerseys and shift to a maroon jersey with gray and gold accents and perforated numbering.
The Sun Devils wore their new maroon jerseys in 16 games in 2018-2019, including in their NCAA tournament appearance against Quinnipiac.
Daccord wore this jersey in that tournament appearance, which means the collection houses both the jersey worn by the lone goal-scorer (Brinson Pasichnuk) and now the jersey of the starting goaltender from one of the biggest games in school history.
Joey Daccord’s jersey has moderate wear with plenty of puck marks and one pull in the sweater.
There are puck marks to be found in and around the crest, the shoulders, and both sleeves. Those sleeves show some pilling from the catcher and blocker. The jersey also has a puck mark just below the gold band around the waist on the right-hand side.
Daccord’s maroon gamer is the grail of grails for my ASU hockey collection. I believe the only jersey that could come close is Josh Doan’s Mullett patched Barry Bonds/Baseball gamer that he wore and scored the first goal in Mullett Arena history in…and that particular jersey is on display in the arena.
You could argue this one should be, as well.
Daccord wore it in the most successful season in school history. He did that while setting school records and shortly thereafter becoming Arizona State’s first alumni to reach the NHL.
In the meantime, however, it will have a home in a frame on my wall alongside several of it’s contemporaries and other Sun Devils legends.
