Brinson Pasichnuk emerged as an early star of the fledgling Arizona State hockey program during the 2017-2018 season.
Pasichnuk, alongside freshman goalscorer Johnny Walker, took the ASU attack to new heights and laid the foundation in 2017-2018 for what would be a breakout 2018-2019 season for the Sun Devils. The Canadian defender set what was then a school record of 26 points with 8 goals and 18 assists.
Brinson would be named captain for his junior and senior seasons before becoming the second Sun Devil to play in the NHL when he made his debut with the San Jose Sharks.
Arizona State wore this style of white jersey for a final time in 2017-2018.
The 2017-2018 version had one very noticeable change, however. The numbers on these jerseys were a single-layer maroon offering that was much different from the 2015-2017 versions which were double-layered and had embossed pitchforks in the maroon part of the lettering.
The black jerseys were also swapped and had all yellow numbers.
I don’t have an answer for why they stopped using the pitchfork sublimated/embossed double-layer twill, but I’m assuming it was a cost thing. Those numbers couldn’t have been easy to produce.
Pasichnuk’s jersey has incredible wear for a one season jersey.
Both sleeves are have repair masses on them that suggest multiple holes (or larger holes) were worn in the jersey. The sweater also shows a nice smattering of stick/puck marks throughout the body and sleeves of the jersey (including near the crest), and features the gorgeous embroidered alternate captain’s “A”.
