Tyson Nash 2005-2006 Phoenix Coyotes White Set 1

August 10, 2023

Tyson Nash, like another famous Phoenix Coyotes alumni, is known as much for his personality off the ice as much as he is known for his contributions on the ice.

The Alberta native arrived in the desert just as the club entered a rebrand and were moving into their new digs in Glendale.

Nash suited up for 50 games in 2005-2006 and didn’t score a goal for the first time since becoming an NHL regular. He put up 6 assists and 84 penalty minutes while also fighting on four occasions.

The Coyotes instigator played in 119 total games across two seasons for the Yotes, scoring 3 goals and 11 assists and tallying 194 penalty minutes.

The Phoenix Coyotes wore their White Set 1 jerseys in 13 regular season games from October 5th, 2005 to November 25th, 2005. They were also worn in an unknown number of games in preseason/training camp.

Tyson Nash played in 9 of the 13 games the set was worn in during the regular season. He scored zero goals and two assists in the sweater. He also wore it in at least one preseason game on September 25th. It is photomatched to four different regular season games and one preseason game.

Photomatches to marks and the nameplate used on Tyson Nash’s 2005-2006 White Set 1 gamer.

His White Set 1 jersey has moderate wear with stick and puck marks, paint transfer, a slightly mangled neck, collar and left shoulder, as well as one unrepaired cut.

The right sleeve has loose threading in the sleeve numbers, stick marks near those same numbers, and a small unrepaired cut just below the stick marks. There is a board burn on the sleeve #8.

On the left sleeve below the elbow is a cluster of light stick/puck marks. The seam at the top of the sleeve that separates the shoulder yoke from the sleeve has puckered from post whistle scrums and has several long loose threads that are visible in at least one photomatch.

Nash’s jersey has popped threading on it’s collar as well as some very obvious mangling of the left collarbone area which causes the jersey and the neck to rest awkwardly. This appears to have happened in an early preseason bout with Ken Belanger in a preseason matchup as the shoulder damage is present early in the season.

The crest has a small cut or scrape near the Coyotes’ mouth and on the front left side there are two stick/puck marks, as well. There are several small stick marks at and around the hem of the front of the jersey.

Nash’s jersey has one very interesting feature on the back; it has an actual nameplate.

The 2005-2006 White Set 1 jerseys were the final set of Coyotes jerseys to have a nameplate before the team shifted to sewing the names directly to the sweaters. This fact alone would make for some more easy photomatches.

There is paint transfer and marks on the lower left hem of the sweater, as well as an odd little board burn on the right hand side of the hem near the NHL shield. That same lower left hem has a board burn or two in that general area. There are other stick/pucks along the hem as well.

The rest of the back is clean beyond some red dye bleed around the edges of the nameplate.

Tyson Nash’s game worn jersey features has Coyotes team tagging in the back hem.
