Kyle Capobianco wore this White Set game worn jersey for the Tucson Roadrunners during the 2018-2019 season, where he was named a 2019 AHL All-Star and emerged as a potential regular on the Arizona Coyotes blue line.
The young defender has been a consistent offensive catalyst for the franchise since arriving in Tucson.
He’s scored at least 30 points in each season and been selected to the AHL All-Star game all three of those seasons. He’s done this despite not playing more than 49 games in any one season due to a mixture of NHL call-ups and injury.
Capo’s AHL exploits has drawn the eye of Arizona Coyotes GM John Chayka.
It could be argued that Capobianco may have already been an NHL regular in 2019-2020 were it not for an ACL injury suffered in the second half of the 2018-2019 season which impacted his ability to ready for the start of the season.
Capobianco had been leading the Roadrunners in points prior to that call-up, which lasted just two games.
Kyle Capobianco will presumably be on the Coyotes playoff “play-in” roster, and I’d suspect he’ll have a good shot at earning a regular gig in 2020-2021.
Capo has the potential to emerge as a top four defender in Arizona.
His familial ties to the valley would make that quite the story, indeed.
