A former fourth round selection of the Los Angeles Kings, Hudson Fasching joined the Arizona Coyotes organization via trade in the summer of the 2018. Fasching was playing with the Buffalo Sabres and even seeing time in the NHL, and was acquired by then GM John Chayka in exchange for Brandon Hickey and Mike Sislo.
Fasching joined a Roadrunners team looking to improve upon a Pacific Division championship and a first round series win. That wasn’t quite how it played out for Tucson in 2018-2019, but Fasching was a solid addition to a strong lineup.
He skated in 64 games, scoring 16 goals and adding 17 assists for 33 total points. Perhaps more importantly, he saw his penalty minutes drop by more than half. That’s a clear sign of a player becoming more comfortable with his surroundings and the speed of play around him.
Fasching’s jersey is another unique one in the collection. It is a red set jersey from the 2018-2019 season, which is one of the years that Detroit Hockey Company only received white sets from the team. The red sets were only auctioned, given away, or sold by the Tucson Roadrunners themselves so they remain fairly rare in the game worn collecting hobby. As such, there is no set tag in this #24 gamer but it is signed by the player.
A second unique feature is that Hudson Fasching appears to be one of a small group of players who wore two different jerseys from a specific set in 2018-2019. Based on my research, it looks like he wore a different red set jersey in the first half of that season. This one was definitely worn in the second half of the season.
The wear on the jersey consists of some pilling and a large, two-inch long repair in the back band on the right sleeve. There is also a small repair between the #2 and the #4 on the right sleeve.
The left sleeve has multiple repairs just below the elbow.
The front of the jersey is interesting because there are multiple repairs just above the hem of the jersey. There is also a black puck mark in that same area. The left side of the copper/white/black band around the body of the jersey has two areas in the white where the thread has been almost completely pulled. It shows up in several photos of Fasching from that season. Above that, in the copper area of the band is another large two-inch long repair.
