Brinson Pasichnuk is on the Mount Rushmore of alumni for the young Arizona State Sun Devils hockey program.
The Bonnyville, AB native is all over the school’s record books.
Brinson is first all-time in assists (68), second in points (107), third in games played (136), and is tied with Josh Doan for fifth all-time in points in a single season (37).
Pasichnuk scored those 37 points in 36 games during his senior season.
In his final home game at Oceanside Arena on February 15th, 2020, #39 scored a hat trick in this jersey that is video matched above.
With COVID abruptly ending Arizona State’s magical 2019-2020 season (and therefore Pasichnuk’s eligibility), he leveraged his back-to-back stellar seasons into an entry-level contract with the San Jose Sharks.
He made his NHL debut for the San Jose Sharks on April 28th, 2021, becoming the second ASU alumni to play in the NHL.
These “gold heritage” jerseys were first shown off by the Sun Devils with a teaser video featuring none other than NHL superstar Auston Matthews. The sweaters were announced prior to the 2019-2020 season and were a tremendous hit with fans.
Arizona State wore their new gold heritage jerseys in 9 games from October 5th, 2019 through February 15th, 2020 during the 2019-2020 season.
Brinson Pasichnuk played in all 9 games, scoring 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 total points in this sweater.
His gold set jersey has fairly light wear with light stick marks visible in both sleeves below the elbows. The left sleeve has a board burn that has turned into a small unrepaired hole, and there is another burn or two visible on the sleeves.
On the front of the jersey there are small, dark stick marks below the ARIZONA STATE crest. The crest itself has loose threading that is pretty noticeable. There are some very faint dark marks on the captain’s “C”, as well.
Pasichnuk’s sweater has some wear on the back as well thanks to the very large board burn/slash mark that is also a bit of an unrepaired cut.
That slash has been photomatched to at least two different games (November 2nd, 2019 and December 7th, 2019) and videomatched to his first career hat trick on February 15th, 2020.
These gold alternates also showcase the perforated numbers that were common in this era of ASU hockey.
