Some players get nicknames. Some get chants. If you’re good enough, you might get both.
That’s how life is for Nashville Predators winger Viktor Arvidsson. He skates, he shoots, he scores, and they roar. “RV! RV! RV! RV!”
The beginning of his NHL career was played in this jersey, specifically his first career goal and point on 10/8/2015 versus the Carolina Hurricanes.
Arvy wore this Gold Set 1 gamer in 15 games in the first half of the 2015-2016 season. This was his first extended action in the NHL, and the start of a career of wild goals and tantalizing breakaways.
The jersey has the usual cluster of repairs on both sleeves, as well as markings throughout the front.
Thanks to Arvy’s rough and tumble, never-say-die playstyle, these repairs and marks were able to be photomatched to six of those 15 games.
The production wasn’t quite there for Arvy in his first season in Nashville. He scored just 8 goals and added 8 assists in 56 games, with 1 goal and 2 assists coming in this sweater.
That lack of production didn’t last long, however.
Since his rookie campaign, Arvy has become one of the most prolific goal-scorers in Nashville Predators history. In 2018-2019, he set a new franchise record with 34 goals in a season.
He did it in just 58 games.
If he can stay healthy, it’s conceivable that he might become Nashville’s first 40 goal scorer. That’s quite a come up from being the 112th overall pick in 2014.
