Tomas Vokoun was a solid contributor in net for the Nashville Predators for almost a decade. You could argue he evolved into an upper echelon goalie in his final three or four seasons in Smashville.
The Czech goalie posted a .913 save percentage over his 8 seasons with the Preds, and finished his career with a stellar .917.
He played in 61 games for the club in 2005-2006, posting a .919 save percentage (tied for 5th in the NHL) and finishing 4th in the Vezina trophy voting. The Preds were 36-18-7 in the games he was in net.
The Nashville Predators wore their Navy Set 1 gamers in 10 games, as well as the preseason in 2005-2006.
Vokoun made 279 saves on 298 shots in 10 games (9 of them starts) in this sweater, posting a .936 save percentage in his Navy Set 1 game worn jersey.
The wear is solid with 3 or 4 team repairs on the outside of the right sleeve and several marks on the inside/forearm side of the sleeve. The right collarbone area has some nice pilling, and the front of the sweater has a mark on the upper right portion of the crest.
The gold part of the hem has puck marks on both sides of said hem, and there is also a nice puck or stick scuff mark in the silver portion of the hem on the left side. The left sleeve has post paint transfer near the elbow and more marks below the sleeve numbers. Both sleeves have pilling near the hem of the sleeves.
The back is clean with wash wear to the numbers and some loose threading.
Tomas Vokoun ranks fourth in franchise history in point shares via Hockey Reference, and held every relevant goaltending record until this fella named Pekka Rinne came along. That qualifies him as a franchise legend in my book.
Finding a Vokoun that could be photomatched is definitely a highlight, and one I expect to have framed on the Preds wall sometime soon.
