Shane Doan was afforded the opportunity to compete for Canada just once in a best-on-best tournament.
He did so in the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, where he scored the game-winning goal against Finland to lead Canada to the championship.
Doan scored 1 goal and 1 assist in 6 games at the tournament.
I was pretty thrilled to be able to snag this one to pair with Josh Doan’s game worn jersey from the 2025 IIHF World Championship that I acquired last year.
Having Doan Sr. in Canadian red and Doan Jr. in American blue makes a nice visual for the above collage, and a cool pairing to have in my son and I’s extensive collection of Shane and Josh’s jerseys over the years.
Shane Doan wore this jersey against Russia in the round robin and the jersey is easily photomatched to that game. He had his lone assist of the tournament during that game, tallying the primary assist on Kris Draper’s goal.
These red jerseys were made by Nike and featured the 2004 World Cup of Hockey patch.
Doan’s jersey shows a plethora of stick/puck marks on the shoulder, front, and back of the jersey. There are also a few visible board burns.
Based on the amount of wear it would seem possible the jersey was worn in multiple games, however it is unclear as there aren’t a ton of photos available.
