Mike Sislo served as alternate captain and led the Tucson Roadrunners in goals scored in 2017-2018, the young franchise’s most successful season to date.
Sislo’s 23 goals is still the franchise record through the 2019-2020 season. It has been tied twice. Once by Michael Bunting, also in 2017-2018, and again by Lane Pederson in 2018-2019.
The now retired winger finished second on the team in total points with 47.
Sislo’s jersey has numerous repairs on the right arm and three on the left arm. There are several photomatches to the left arm, and one very clear one to the right arm wear. The sweater also has a few other small marks, pulls, or pilling, but nothing that is particularly notable.
The red set of jerseys from each season of the Roadrunners existence has proven a hard beast to track down. The 2017-2018 is the only set where Detroit Hockey Company received the jerseys from the red set, bar a stray or two. The 2016-2017 inaugurals and the 2018-2019 set delivered to DHC were both white.
Word is that the Roadrunners may be making more sets available in future seasons, perhaps even as soon as the 2019-2020 edition. That would be great for my collection, as I’m sitting on five white jerseys out of the eight Roadrunners I own.
Sislo only played one more season and part of another before stepping away from the game.
He began his career as a longtime Devils prospect before taking a journey around the AHL and ending up in Germany.
His tenure in Tucson was brief, but he was a big part of the team’s most successful season.
