Jake Clifford was part of the founding class of commitments prior to the team’s move to Division I in 2015-2016 that pushed the team through the transition from ACHA to D1 program.
The Ohio native arrived in Tempe as a defenseman, but after two years of limited ice time converted to forward and became a vital piece of head coach Greg Powers’ checking line.
He saw the team rise from punching bag to being nationally ranked in that time.
Clifford played in 97 games in his NCAA career with Arizona State, tallying 5 goals and 12 assists. He had a career high in goals (3) and points (7) in his senior season in 2018-2019.
Arizona State hockey wore their white set jerseys in 13 games from October 6th, 2018 through February 16th, 2019. Jake Clifford played in all 13 games, scoring 1 goal and 2 assists in this sweater.
Clifford’s jersey has solid wear throughout.
The right sleeve has stick marks, burns, a small unrepaired hole, and one repair below the elbow and another large repair above the sleeve numbers. There is also some pilling above those sleeve numbers and a slash mark through the #22. The left sleeve has a few burns and light marks, as well as some slash marks/pulls in the yellow banding around the elbow.
The front of the jersey has a ton of stick and puck marks on either side of the crest.
The back of the jersey also has stick marks in and around the numbers and a large unrepaired hole on the bottom right of the back hem. There is one large repair on the back just above the gold band that goes around the waist.
The nameplate was removed from Clifford’s jersey by the program before it was sold. However, I was able to acquire the removed nameplate and make the jersey whole once again several years later.
