Josh Doan was the most hyped recruit in Arizona State Sun Devils hockey history.
The younger Doan came in as the son of Arizona Coyotes legend Shane Doan and the highest NHL draft pick (2nd round, 37th overall) in school history.
He delivered on his end of the bargain by scoring 75 points in his 74 games in maroon and gold.
Doan wore this military jersey inspired by Pat Tillman in both his freshman and sophomore seasons with the Sun Devils.
ASU wore them in two games both years, with Josh Doan picking up at least a point in every game.
Across the two seasons he finished with 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists) in 4 games in this sweater.
Arizona State introduced these military jerseys inspired by Pat Tillman in November of 2021.
They wore them in two wins later that month against Bemidji State (11/24 and 11/26) and in another two victories in 2022 against Alaska Anchorage (11/11 and 11/12).
The jerseys feature a sublimated crest and an American flag patch on the left shoulder. The numbers are sublimated and the nameplate is sewn.
These sweaters also include a tribute to Sun Devils alumni Pat Tillman with a PT42 patch on the back above the nameplate.
Doan’s jersey has solid visible wear for a jersey worn in just four games, however it is pretty light compared to a regular set worn jersey.
The right sleeve has board burns and stick burns below the elbow. On the left sleeve are two burn holes, one of which is larger than the other and shows up in photos of Doan from games in 2022-2023. There are also some small stick/puck marks on the back of the left sleeve.
There is a unique captain’s patch sewn in single layer black twill on the front of this military game worn jersey.
Directly down from the captain’s patch is a huge dark stick mark that begins about two thirds or three quarters of the way up the pitchfork and extends diagonally almost to the bottom of the crest. Next to that dark stick mark is another large but lighter stick mark that extends to the bottom of the crest.
These Pat Tillman military jerseys have unique set tags inside the back hem.
They are sublimated and feature a quote from Tillman:
"Somewhere inside, we hear a voice. It leads us in the direction of who we want to become. But it is up to us whether or not to follow." — Pat Tillman
The set tags also feature the PT42 logo honoring Tillman and state “Arizona State Authentic Game Jersey” and have former equipment manager Jon Laughner’s name. The jerseys were customized by EPS.
