Dysin Mayo was named captain of the Tucson Roadrunners prior to the 2021-2022 season.
Mayo had spent the previous five seasons in Tucson, and heading into his sixth year head coach Jay Varady made him the face of the team. The honor was short lived, however, because Dysin had much bigger things in store.
He skated in just two games for the Roadrunners in 2021-2022 before being called up to the Arizona Coyotes. Mayo never returned to Tucson and was rewarded with a new three-year one-way contract with the NHL club.
Dysin played in 67 games scoring 4 goals and adding 8 assists after his call-up.
Mayo’s jersey has light wear just as you’d expect from a jersey worn in only two games. Those games were October 15th, 2021 and October 16th, 2021 against the Stockton Heat.
There are some board burns in the right sleeve and one decent sized repair in the right sleeve. The jersey shows a bit of wash wear but is otherwise unmarked.
I reached out to the team directly to acquire this gamer knowing it was the only one that Mayo had worn while serving as captain.
Having Dyin Mayo’s captain’s jersey puts me at 5 of the 6 captains in Roadrunners history, with the missing captain being one of Craig Cunningham’s for obvious reasons.
