Adin Hill’s break to audition for a full-time NHL job has arrived unexpectedly in the past few seasons.
The young goalie has gotten games in each of the past four NHL seasons, and at least 13 games in each of the past three seasons including 2020-2021.
This season, thanks to yet another set of injuries to both Darcy Kuemper and Antti Raanta, Hill has been given his biggest workload yet.
Prior to that, however, he was only practicing with the team as part of the Arizona Coyotes COVID taxi squad. As the third goalie, he wasn’t getting any playtime so new General Manager Bill Armstrong sent him to Tucson for a two game conditioning assignment.
The Roadrunners only wear their Kachina alternates for Saturday games, so Hill’s gamer is a one-game only jersey.
It has very light wear as you would expect, with some pilling around the end of the right sleeve and a pick/pull near the Tucson shoulder patch on the right shoulder.
One notable difference between Adin Hill’s alternate game worn jersey and Lane Pederson’s jersey from the year prior is that this jersey does not have a sponsorship patch.
Outside of Michael Bunting, there is no player more integral to the Tucson Roadrunners franchise than Hill. He’s played there, at least in part, in every season the franchise has existed since moving to the desert.
With an expansion draft looming, it is likely that Adin Hill’s days in Tucson are over one way or the other.
Antti Raanta’s contract is up with the Coyotes at the end of this season, and it’s possible Darcy Kuemper could be traded or exposed if Adin Hill is protected by Bill Armstrong and the Yotes management.
It’s also possible (albeit unlikely) that Hill is selected by the Seattle Kraken if he is exposed. He has ties to the Pacific Northwest, having spent 3 seasons with the Portland Winterhawks.
It will be interesting to see how Hill’s season concludes and where he ends up next year.
